Spyro A Hero’s Tail: Reveiw

Good Stuff1335852585-00

  • The environment looks great it was well thought out.
  • Spyro has a double jump
  • Spyro is able to carry items, like keys and extra hit jars.
  • The gems were used as currency
  • There were dragon that were Spyro’s age
  • The music was good.
  • They finally put those yellow scales down Spyros back.
  • Spyro also stands on his hind toes like most quadrupeds do.

Bad Stuff, and there’s a lot

  • Spyro’s eyes are too small
  • Spyro could not fly what so ever in this game
  • Sergeant Bird replaced Spyro in the flight levels.
  • Red’s head was out of proportion with the rest of his body, his horns where far too big.
  • There where no natives for Spyro to talk to.
  • Spyro’s wings should have looked more like the wings from Skylanders.
  • MoneyBags is still a leech.
  • The fact that Ember was a love interest, which was not appealing at all because they still made her out to be a pink prick anyway.
  • The dragon eggs look like easter eggs.
  • There was no female elder and no the nanny does not count, because the word elder is not  in front of here name, like the others. She has no light gem staff nor does she teach Spyro any new moves. Here was Eurocoms chance to put a female elder in the series and they passed it up. Just like the rest of them.
  • The fact that Ember and Flame played such meaningless roles in the game was a disappointment.
  • Gnasty Gnork should have been more threatening.

Another thing I noticed in the game is that the 2nd half of the game feels rushed. The 3rd world ( Icy Wilderness) only had 2 and a half levels, the hub, the fortress, and Hunters Cave exploration. Hunters level felt like a half level because it was a point A to point B game play there really was no exploration.

And the way Red was defeated was a little anticlimactic.

Ideas for Spyro Games

To often I think about how I could make a better game for the Spyro series, so here are some ideas.

Spyro should breath fire, as always, he could use his wings to generate gales of wind to blow enemies or obstacles away depending on their size. Spyro could create earthquakes using his horn dive or shoot water at enemies or to solve puzzles and the ability to shoot water attacks underwater.

The wings need to be more realistic, something like the wings from Skylanders’s Spyro. Now I’m not a big fan of the Skylander games, but those wings where the best I have seen through out the entire Spyro series.

Elemental powers
• Water
• Earth
• Wind
• Fire
To many time have I seen the elements Water and Earth be ignored they are just an unnecessary addition, and wind never had a chance.

Note: Electricity, Ice, and Bubbles are not element, at least in my opinion.
